Note: So, surprise, this AU is based heavily on the game(s) Resident Evil 2--but while there will be a lot of identical situations, familiarity with the RE canon isn’t at all necessary to follow along. On that note, this fic will parallel some endgame plot points in RE2, so it's best to skip this for now if you want to avoid spoilers! (I feel like RE2/Zestiria fans are such a tiny niche group but I like to be careful.)
